Overview

Sugammadex is a medication used to reverse the effects of neuromuscular blocking agents (NMBAs) during surgical procedures. NMBAs are medications that temporarily paralyze muscles to facilitate surgical procedures or assist with mechanical ventilation. Sugammadex helps to rapidly and effectively reverse the neuromuscular blockade induced by these agents. Sugammadex is a selective relaxant binding agent (SRBA) that specifically binds to NMBAs, such as rocuronium and vecuronium, forming a complex and neutralizing their effects.
