Overview

Carvedilol is a medication that belongs to the class of beta-blockers with alpha-blocking activity. It is primarily used to treat conditions such as hypertension (high blood pressure), heart failure, and certain types of arrhythmias (irregular heart rhythms). Carvedilol is a non-selective beta-blocker that works by blocking the action of certain neurotransmitters, such as norepinephrine, on the beta receptors in the heart and blood vessels. By doing so, it reduces the heart rate, relaxes blood vessels, and lowers blood pressure.
