Overview

Ramipril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor medication used primarily for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) and heart failure. It belongs to the class of drugs known as ACE inhibitors, which work by blocking the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, a hormone that constricts blood vessels and raises blood pressure. By inhibiting this enzyme, ramipril helps relax and widen the blood vessels, thus reducing blood pressure and improving cardiac function.
