Overview

It is a polysaccharide used as a food additive. Maltodextrin is mainly derived from vegetable starch (corn, rice, potato or wheat) and is commonly used in the production of soft drinks and candies. It is also used in chips, peanut butter to reduce fat content while maintaining texture and can even be taken as a dietary supplement for athletes. This additive is easily digestible and can be moderately sweet or almost tasteless.
